Sweating Out in Spa Centre (“Royal Classic Spa” @ West Coast Recreation Centre) March 24, 2009

It would have been more appropriate if this spa centre provides sports massage. Why? It is just located next to the stadium…how convenient it would have been if you needed a sports massage due to an injury and you could get it just right there!

Royal Classic Spa is has a cosy massage room to begin with and I learnt that there’s Wifi access too, great for people like me who is unable to detach away from the internet. I had my complimentary drink before proceeding to use some of their facilities like steam and sauna.

My massage took place as soon as I had enough of my steam and sauna. I requested for my lower half of body to be massaged. She concentrated on my calf and gave my pair of tired legs a good rub. As her tender touch nimble my legs, it relieves those tensed muscles that was accumulated through my 2 hour run at the stadium…yesterday.

Should I come to the stadium in the future, I am pretty sure I will get myself the massage nearby.

Relax after Shopping (“Pissa Health Centre” @ Cuppage Plaza) January 27, 2009

We do understand that Orchard is one of the most expensive area in Singapore. Having a massage there can cost you quite a lot naturally. That’s what most will think of. But there’s this outlet at Cuppage Plaza where it only costs $35 for 45mins. On average, massage therapy in Singapore will cost approximately $1.00 per minute of time spent or even less, whether it can be an actual full body massage at a clinic, centre or spa. And that is equivalent to about $50 for 50 minutes of relaxation. While many are willing to spend $50 to dine out buy coffee at famous outlets weekly… why not spend it on something more worthwhile for relaxation?

At the Pissa Health Centre, the cosy ambience combines well with the array of facilities in provides. A theatre room and coffee lounge in the setting. The steam and sauna at a corner. The masseuse does her charming job of work on your body as you rest well on the comfortable bed. She presses on the body with adequate pressure and held on for a moment before releasing with a soft rub.

The experience at this outlet was indeed a de-stressing one. A recommended outlet.

Nice experience (“Grand Health Centre @ Cavenagh Rd”) January 7, 2009

The name Grand Health Centre has some indications of how the interior of it looks. Indeed going by its location, it sure is a grand one with the Istana (our President’s official resident) in the vicinity. Situated at Cavenagh Rd, you will be better directed to Hotel Grand Central which is more prominent.

It was a pretty wet day with showers in the afternoon and I managed to get some bright greetings at the front reception by a charming receptionist. After making a confirmation of my reservation, I proceeded to change into their bathing suit. A relaxing sauna to let my sweat pores open was indeed a great experience after getting chilled in the cold weather. It took me half an hour before proceeding on to receive my massage.

A local masseuse was asked to guide me into my room where I would get my aches soothe away. I was pretty surprise to hear that she was in her late 20s when she looked incredibly young. As she chatted, it was understood that she had been in this line for half a decade – 5 years. Indeed her skillful massage showed her experience as she knows exactly the spot to place her pressure onto. Using her elbow on my calf muscles was truly effective in relieving my fatigue as I had went for a 2.4km run just a few days before.

After the great massage, she warmly invited me to the TV restroom where I chilled out with a relaxing drink and a show to catch. This is one centre I would highly recommend to visit.

A Happy Experience (“Happy De Spa @ Balestier”) January 6, 2009

As the name suggests, it should be a happy experience down at Happy De Spa located along Balestier Road. The outlet provides a nice massage at only $36 for an hour (this is the promotion price) inclusive of a free body scrub. There are many services provided such as ear candling, traditional/oil massage, steam & sauna…etc

Upon reaching the outlet at Balestier Point, I registered myself (had booked in advance) and took up their promotion package of traditional massage. The steam bath was the first “activity” that I engaged in before enjoying myself at the snack bar along with a cup of warm tea served. There was free internet surfing and I made use of this facility to check out some of my emails. It is said that if you can’t put your mind to ease, your body will not be in peace too. Therefore, after clearing my emails, I was ready to embark on my massage experience.

I was gently greeted by the masseuse who apparently was from China. As we chatted on her life here in Singapore, I found that she had been here for more than a year working already. As she massaged my back and glide her hands up and down from top to bottom, I requested she massage my front. She pressed my shoulders to ease the tensions and I can hear the faint “crack” sound which felt good. Her chopping technique on my thigh front was of a swift motion. Indeed, a pleasurable experience.

I ended the session with checking my email once again before leaving. Fortunately, there were none in my inbox.

Spicing up a boring day! (“Canberra Health Spa @ Sembawang”) December 27, 2008

Sometimes during the weekend, with nothing great on TV and any appointments with friends…it should be a good rare time to chill out alone..but then again, its boring doing JUST nothing!

so why not engage in my our favourite activity by doing nothing except to lay down there and let the masseuse fingers do the work…at least this form of doing nothing is more interesting~

I flip through my directory of spa centres and saw one near my location at Sembawang – Canberra Health Spa. Guess how I travelled there? I jogged! It sounds a bit crazy for someone to jog to a spa centre…but I thought it might be more worthwhile trying to make oneself tired first before going for the relaxing part…like that will be more relaxing…isn’t it?

Looking up at the signboard, I know I am at the right location. Entering the tinted doors, I found myself in a nice air-conditioned environment from the blazing sun outside. The receptionist must have been pretty amuse at seeing me sweat profusely..she was kind enough to offer me a cool chilled drink. After selecting my package, I was guided to the room and the masseuse was already inside waiting for me.

I changed into their cosy wear and soon the massage began. She was pretty quiet throughout the session and let her fingers do the talking instead. Her elbow glides past my tired legs (from the jogging)..and it felt so good. As she use her pressure on those acupuncture points, I felt a sense of pleasure. Her skills were great with the amount of force use on the different body parts. The massage oil were evenly spread out and the lavender smell spread throughout the room.

This massage lasted only 45 minutes and it seemed too soon. But now at least I know, there’s a place to come by if I were to jog in the vicinity again!
