Have you ever look at your feet and thought to yourself how appreciative you are towards those pair? I know this sounds absurd but my point is that…our feet is something that we often ignore and forget. Pamper your feet through occasional foot massages can actually improve your overall blood circulation and in the Chinese foot reflexology, it is beneficial to the health. It is believed that there are acupressure points on your feet that denotes certain functions of your body.

There are gradually more foot massages being offered in Singapore. This is an interesting trend as many would often opt to have an upper body massage instead. Today many very expensive day spas are now offering reflexology as one of the many services that they provide. When receiving this very relaxing service you feel nothing but pampered.

However, not all are into foot massages, with one of the main reason cited as ticklish. In fact, traditional foot massages can very well be of the opposite – painful. But a good foot reflexologist should make one feel comfortable rather than ticklish or painful.

Massage Your Body January 9, 2009

There are just some main common sore areas that we experience most often which we crave for the hands of a skillful masseuse to massage us and heal us back with the energy we were drained before.

Your Neck
The part where your head is supported and connected to your main body…how tiring can this job as a neck be? Truly tiring! There are many sensitive nerves at that area and it links very much to our shoulders especially when we type daily on our computers (exactly what I am doing now). The stiffness often indicates some resistance and we have to crank it up. We often see people clasping their neck in indication of being tired. Come on…you need a masseuse…get a professional massage!

Shoulders

Your shoulders carry the massive weight of your responsibilities, shouldering all the important tasks in work, family, or money matters. Have you found yourself often craving for a massage on your shoulders that very often? The tension build up on those two tiring muscle area makes one craves very much for a massage as that’s an area you are not able to reach out.

Upper, Middle, Lower back
The spine, the backbone, the structure of your body that holds it together in one piece upright. Do you slouch? Or bend forward often? That should add on to the body backaches it gives. A good rub is often what we need at the back to relieve those aches. Most will actually prefer a medicated rub that ooze out a menthol mint flavour on the back…giving you a cool feel.

Calf/Legs
Our legs does the walking and I feel obliged to give them some good rewards such as foot reflexology at times. Shoes play an important role to ensure that your legs get the maximum comfort support they can. When your legs tell you that they can’t go on shopping for the whole day, let them rest…bring them to a foot reflexology expert. If not, you can also give these legs/calf a good rub. Using your knuckles should do the trick most often. Knead and squeeze with adequate strength to loosen up the tense muscles. Then, apply the much needed muscle rub or cream to it as you massage through it. Your legs will be grateful to you.

A get-together with friends at spa (“Dragon Executive Spa @ Tanjong Pagar”) January 4, 2009

There are times when we just run out of ideas of what to do for a gathering with some friends. It has always been the usual BBQ, eating sessions and karaoke. So this time round, I was thinking out of the box and suggested the 5 of us good friends go for a spa session together..it would certainly be fun!

It needs to be a nice spa that can accommodate the 5 of us in the pool and also in the sauna  room. We settled down at Dragon Executive Spa along Tanjong Pagar Road after some beer at the pub nearby. There was a private lift access at the entrance of Amara shopping centre. We felt like VIPs as soon as we step in and greeted warmly by the staffs in their dark uniforms. The reception seems large a grand in receiving us on the front desk.

We selected our Therapeutic Massages for an hour each and got into our ready suit for the massage. In our individual rooms, we were further greeted with ready smiling masseuse. Mine was a China girl from Shenyang province, I got to find out that she was in her early 20s and began work only a month ago in Singapore. The massage session was a chatty one and she used the traditional technique on pounding on my back with both hands clasped. Its been a long time since I tried that style. Her way of kneading her knuckles into those tired soles were superbly skilled and I truly enjoy that foot reflexology by her. As her dripped some aromatherapy oil on my arms and rub hard, I felt that she could have been a little softer…but her high energy actually rubbed off my tiring arms’ fatigue.

My good friends and I met up at the sauna right on time as we completed our relaxing massage. The sauna was great with chats about our old University days. We ended the session with some coffee at the lounge before checking out of the spa centre. It felt really good and we are already planning for the next gathering at the spa…

Somewhere up in the North… (“Kang Jia Therapy @ Yishun”) December 31, 2008

Located along Yishun Ring Rd, carpark is aplenty should you wish to park conveniently. The outlet is at the first level and thus easily spotted. Upon making appointment, I made my way down to Kang Jia Therapy on the day itself. I was greeted by the manager in charge that very day. Their warm hospitality of making me feel at home surely did set the mood for comfort.

I came to know that this outlet was newly opened in 2008. It situated in the neighbourhood of Yishun and definitely a convenient location to drop by if you stay in this vicinity.

After a quick sip of lukewarm water, I proceeded to my allocated room for my massage. The masseuse did her opening massage on me and asked how much of force would it be good for me. I thought that was a delicate question to ask at the beginning as it determines the tempo for the rest of the massage journey. I soon slipped into a state of pre-doze as it was really very comfortable with the setting and massage applied. When she started doing some foot reflexology on my heals, it felt good possibly due to the jogging I had done over the past week.

The session ended with a feedback session over the counter with the manager. Well, it was good, how else can it be?
